6th-8th Grade Jr. Jazz Rules
· First Team listed on the schedule will always wear White.
· High School rules in effect.
· 5 vs 5 format (must have 4 players to start a game otherwise the team forfeits).
· 10-foot rim.
· Full Size Ball: 29.5
· Two 20-minute halves will be played with a 3-minute half time. The clock will only stop within the last 2 minutes of each half.
· If a team is up by 16 or more points in the 2nd half, then the clock will run during the last 2 minutes.
· Every player will play at least 50% of every game. Thus, every 5 minutes a sub call will be in place.
· Each team is awarded two 30 second timeouts each half (these do not carry over).
· Zone Defenses are permitted.
· Players are allowed 5 fouls.
· Full Court Press is allowed.
· No Dunking is Allowed (Dunking before, during, or after the game will result in a technical foul).
· All players must be registered with Morgan County Recreation before they are allowed to play. If a team plays a game with an unregistered player that team will automatically forfeit.
· Scores and standings will be kept.
· If the game is tied overtime will be played, the teams will play one 3-minute period (coaches get 1 timeout per overtime). Overtime starts with a jump ball. If the score is still tied, then a second 3-minute period will take place and the first team to score wins.
· All players, teams, and spectators must show good sportsmanship.
· Recreation staff can remove anyone in the vicinity that does not conduct themselves in a good sportsmanship type manner. Profane, insulting, or abusive language will not be tolerated. Serious offenses of threatening language or actions will result in immediate ejection. The decision of the Recreation staff is final in all cases.
· Technical Fouls: If a player or coach gets a technical foul, then they must sit out for 15 minutes of game time. If a second technical foul is received, then the player or coach will be suspended for one game. If there is a third technical foul, then the player or coach will be suspended for the rest of the season.
